I’ve got to admit these stories always make me cringe a little bit. I like stories about kids that achieve, but am always concerned when it involves kids with challenges because the skeptic in me wonders are they using the kid as a mascot and not a player …. this isn’t one of those cases.
The best part of the story for me is that Kyle was the driver behind this and despite his parents concerns, hesitations and doubts ….. THEY GOT OUT OF HIS WAY and let him run with it.
Stunning how much our kids can do (challenges or no) if the adults stay out of the way and let the kids take a whack at it.
This is a great story to keep in your favorites, maybe even print it, and reread the next time someone tries to discourage your child from trying something (especially if the person doing the discouraging is you).
