Why You Need To Attend This Conference
Quick Answer – Your child is legally entitled to a better education than they’re receiving. The school knows it. The district knows it and they’re hoping that you don’t. If you have a child that has ANY kind of educational challenges – both children in and not in Special Education – you need to attend this conference.
Knowledge is power (okay it’s cliche, but it’s a cliche for a reason) and without knowledge of special education law, your rights and your child’s rights you don’t have the power to properly advocate for your child and insure they’re getting the help and education that they’re entitled to …. by law.
Still not sure this applies to you?
Have you ever asked yourself ….
- What are my rights as a parent?
- How can I get more services (Speech, OT, Tutoring) for my child?
- What can I do for my child who’s fallen behind in Reading / Math?
- How can I get Extended School Year services?
- What is Extended School Year and do I have to pay extra for it?
- Can the school say they don’t have the money?
- Should the school pay for outside evaluations?
- My child isn’t in “special ed” but is having behavior problems that are impacting his education, is there help for him?
- The school wants to do additional testing on my child, should I agree?
- What is the school required to do by law?
- Can the school suspend my child for “behavior problems”?
- What is “No Child Left Behind” and does it apply to my child?
- How can I be a better advocate for my child?
- Can the school have IEP meetings without me?
- How is my child really doing in school?
- What do NCLB, IDEA, IEP, IEE, AYP, LRE, AI, OHI, & MET mean (and should I care) ?
- Does my child qualify for mainstreaming or inclusion (and what’s the difference)?
- Can the school say my child needs medication?
- The school says their decisions are based on “what we have available”, is that right?
- How will I know if my child is really making enough progress at school?
- Does my child qualify for “assistive technology” help? What is “assistive technology’?
- Do I have a say in my child’s classroom or program placement?
- I think my child has a bad IEP …. how can I change it?
- The school wants my child to take “alternative” assessments – what does that mean, should I agree?
- What’s the difference between an “accommodation” and a “modification”
- I think my child needs more help in school but the school says he’s fine, he’s just not trying …

I am confused – a friend sent me the info today and I want to register but she said the books were included for the 99.00. I don’t want to miss but wanted to check as I am a retired advocate doing advocacy, much as a volunteer and just need to be sure if I can get both for the 99.00?
Thanks, or is it too late?
Hi,
I would like to attend the conference, but I do not care to use Paypal, due to someone gaining access to my account. I closed the account and do not wish to sign-up for it again. Can I mail a check?
Do you have any discount rate for two parents wanting to attend together and not needing the extra set of books? I’ve been asked this question, so I’m forwarding it to you.
Thanks and best wishes,
Carolyn
Carolyn – It’s not one of our standard packages because we had very few couples interested in couples packages last time we did the conference. Most of the ones we did sell were packages where a bunch of parents all got together to purchase a large pool of tickets. Please have your friends contact me – steve@mygreatkid.com – and we’ll work with them to come up with something that will work out for them and get them to the conference. Thanks!
Angelina – please give Staci a call at 734-612-3934 and she will be happy to make arrangements for you.
Peggy – Our Early Bird Special does include the books for the $99.00 price. As of right now there are still some of these packages available so please order your tickets on the Early Bird Special page, get your books for free and enjoy the conference!
I signed up for the conference. Will the books come soon or just before the March conference?
Unfortunately we won’t receive the books until shortly before the conference. I’d be happy to check to see if they could possibly send some earlier though Kristy. Let me check on that and I’ll get back with you!
- Thanks, Steve
Is it too late to register for this conference? I’ve just been made aware of it and would like to attend but am not sure if registration is closed. Also, will there be enough time to get the book?
Thank you.
Hello,
Do we need to have a ticket for the Wrightslaw conference in order to be able to attend to the free March 11th pre-conference Friday night “Experts Sessions”?
Also, what is the event location and time for tonight’s pre-conference night “Experts Sessions”?
Thanks in advance.
